Alumni Scholars Program (ASP) Qualifications
ASP provides recognition and financial assistance to outstanding incoming freshmen. Ohio State Alumni Clubs select and recommend talented incoming freshmen for this merit-based scholarship. Once recipients are announced, students have the opportunity to participate throughout the school year in a program that strengthens their relationships with one another, and the Alumni Association. Each quarter, one formal event is planned for the Alumni Scholars that helps them build professional and leadership skills, introduces them to Ohio State Alumni working in their field, and presents the opportunity to give back to their community through service projects.
Who is eligible?
The Office of Student Financial Aid selects recipients based on club recommendations. To receive the ASP award, students must:
* Be admitted to the university. * Rank in the top 10 percent of his or her high school class. * Be recommended by school principals, counselors, and/or teachers based on scholastic ability and character. * Have a record of performance in activities both in school and in the community. * Impress the club's scholarship committee during the personal interview by demonstrating a sound interest and positive attitute toward college. * Be residents or attend high school in the county/area in which the participating alumni club's membership is based.
Given that we received over fifty applications, the awards this year were extraordinarily competitive. All recipients achieved ACTs in the 30s and demonstrated outstanding leadership and service.
